by Ben "Moon" Pauwels - 10/21/06

Two tough loses today. We got started right leading the first game 2-1 but unfortunately that is where our lead ended. Everyone played hard. A hearty welcome to Rich "Winfield" Saylor, Steve "Monitor" Swiech, and Ryan "Wings" Millett who made their debuts today. Winfield had been to two practices previously but was unable to make it to any of the earlier games.

Monitor and Wings were on hand in Alexandria to see our games against Easton.

There were some good individual performances today. Bucket broke out of his season long slump, doubling his hit total. Rock had his first double (would have been a triple 15 years ago) and made a mighty fine catch on his knees sliding into the fence. Rhubarb collected two hits in the second game. Surf continued his good hitting. Reb, Wings and Monitor collected their first hits of the season. Wings had two. Commodore pitched very well again. Shazam had a a nice long stroke deep into the garden. Winfield played good defense and unselfishly played for Elkton in the first game so they could field a team (making him the first C&P team member to win a game). Moon stole home in the second game (twice) which cost Rhubarb two RBI's.

Here are the stats from today's games and I have attached the season stats as well. (Zag ended up leading C&P in most categories, Crumudgeon finished the season second in hitting!)

Surf 4-7, 2R

Bucket 4-7, R, RBI, SB, CS

Moon 2-6, 2R, RBI, 4SB

Rock 3-7, 2R, 2B

Wings 2-7,2RBI

Shazam 2-5, SB, CS

Rhubarb 2-6

Commodore 1-5

Monitor 1-6, SB

Reb 1-6

Winfield 0-3 (1-3 for Elkton)

Special thanks to all the Cranks who came out and supported the team for our first season and to Richard the team historian!
